Das verarbeitende Gewerbe ist einer der größten Sektoren der EU-Taxonomie und umfasst 16 wirtschaftliche Tätigkeiten über ein breites Spektrum industrieller Produktion hinweg. Von Zement und Stahl bis zu Batterien und Wasserstoff adressiert dieser Sektor die kohlenstoffintensivsten Wertschöpfungsketten der europäischen Wirtschaft.
Jede Produktionstätigkeit hat eigene technische Bewertungskriterien. Je nach Tätigkeit können diese Emissionsintensität, Materialeffizienz, Produktleistung oder ermöglichende Funktionen betreffen; maßgeblich ist der jeweils geltende delegierte Rechtsakt.
Kriterien zur Kreislaufwirtschaft können für bestimmte Produktionstätigkeiten gelten und sollten für jede Tätigkeit einzeln geprüft werden. Wenn ein anwendbares DNSH-Kriterium zur Anpassung auf Anhang A verweist, ist die Bewertung physischer Risiken dem Maßstab und der erwarteten Lebensdauer der Tätigkeit angemessen; eine pauschale Pflicht für jeden Produktionsstandort folgt daraus nicht.
